NANCY NEELEY SCHOLARSHIP

Ms. Nancy Neeley graduated from Western Illinois University in Family and Consumer Sciences and did her graduate work at Columbia University, New York. She taught in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences for most of her professional life. She returned to Columbia University for post-graduate work. She redirected her expertise in the area of child development, family life, and gerontology. Ms. Neeley served as the president of the Illinois Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Association and the Illinois Vocational Association.

CRITERIA:
 Be a major in Family and Consumer Sciences (department now known as Dietetics, Fashion Merchandising and Hospitality)
 Be a full-time student
 Demonstrate dependability, leadership and service
 Show evidence of intent to graduate from the University

Eligibility as an incoming freshman:
 Be a high-school graduate in the upper 20% of graduating class or have an ACT of 20 or above
 Be registered as a full-time student at WIU

Eligibility as a sophomore:
 Be a full-time student at WIU when applying
 Be classified as a sophomore at WIU for the entire year of the scholarship
 Have attained a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or above
 Have completed at least 6 semester hours in Family and Consumer Sciences

Eligibility as a transfer student:
 Have a high school Act of 20 or above OR attained a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or above from a previous college or university
 Be registered as a full-time student at WIU when applying

Eligibility as a sophomore transfer student:
 Have completed at least 6 semester hours in Family and Consumer Sciences
 Be classified as having sophomore academic status at WIU for the entire year of the scholarship
