Don and Agnes Hussey Chemistry Scholarship

George “Don” Hussey and Agnes Hussey valued higher education. They were both raised in rural Illinois and were of modest means. Don was the first person in his family to attend college and graduated from WIU with a BS in Chemistry in 1953. Agnes graduated with a BS in Home Economics in 1951. They instilled a love of education in their children. Their daughter retired as a nurse at a large hospital in St. Louis and their son has degrees from the University of Illinois and Texas A&M University, where he is currently a faculty member. The scholarship was largely funded through an annuity that Don established. Their son, Mark Hussey, and his wife finished endowing the scholarship in his parent’s memory.
