WILLIAM HUGHES SCHOLARSHIP

The William Hughes Scholarship was established in the spring of 1982 to honor William (Bill) Hughes, retired professor and department chairperson of men’s physical education. William Hughes served as department chairperson from 1968 until his retirement in 1982.

CRITERIA:
 Kinesiology major
 Junior class level and have completed all course work at WIU with the intent to complete a bachelor’s degree at WIU
 Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA after completion of 5 semesters of university credit with a minimum of 75 credit hours
 Evidence of participation in intercollegiate sports, intramural activities, sports clubs, and/or membership in university student activities
 Evidence of leadership qualities as exemplified by leadership roles exhibited in department, college, and university activities
