East Village Youth Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Karen Kolodzey, a WIU marketing graduate. Karen retired as president and managing partner of Brigandi+Associates, Inc., (b+a), an independent Chicago-based marketing communications agency she co-founded with her husband.


  • Accepted to WIU
  • Graduate of the East Village Youth Program in Chicago
  • Minimum 2.5 high school GPA (must be maintained through high school graduation)
  • Financial need

Preference is given to the highest GPA if there is a tie for financial need. If no graduates of the East Village Youth Program in Chicago apply, the scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman from the Chicago metro area.
