MIKE PENDERGAST ATHLETIC TR AINING SCHOLARSHIP

Michael “Pendy” Pendergast was WIU’s longest serving Head Athletic trainer; he served as WIU’s Head Athletic Trainer for 30 years as well as interim program director on two occasions (1985-86 & 1990-91). Michael received a Master of Science in Physical Education degree from WIU in 1982; he retired from WIU in 2008. The scholarship was established by family and friends of Michael Pendergast in his honor.

CRITERIA:
 Major in Kinesiology
 Enrolled in WIU’s Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP)
 Minimum GPA of 3.0
 Junior or Senior
 Preference to a student interested in pursuing a career as an athletic trainer in higher education
