Lois E. Liehr Education Scholarship

The Lois. E. Liehr Education Scholarship was established in 2018 by her nephew, Daniel B. Liehr, as
a means to honor her upon her passing in September 2017. Lois graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor
of Science in Education. Lois taught elementary school for over 30 years, retiring as a second grade
teacher in Sterling, Illinois. Having been born and raised in Perry, Illinois attending Dexter School
there, and with all family roots in Pike County, this scholarship is to be awarded to a high school
graduate from Pike County, Illinois who chooses to pursue a career in education.
CRITERIA;
Freshman education major, all areas, including early childhood, elementary, middle, and secondary
subject specific education
Recipient must have graduated from a secondary school in Pike County, Illinois
Financial need is a consideration if more than one applicant.
