McGEE PHYSICS SCHOLARSHIP

Kenneth and Velma McGee met and fell in love at Western Illinois University. They were both the first in their families to earn a college degree; Kenneth a degree in physics and Velma in women’s physical education. Both Kenneth and Velma were active in numerous campus clubs, and both played on their respective basketball teams, with Velma also a member of the women’s hockey team. They both credited the support and education they received at WIU as being instrumental to their careers, as Kenneth rose through the ranks at Sangamo Electric Company to eventually retire as secreta1y of the company. Velma McGee chose to give back to WIU because of the pivotal role the university played in shaping their lives.

CRITERIA:
Awarded to a physics student in any year of school, freshman through senior
GP A of 3.0 or higher
Financial need is a consideration
Preference given to students active in clubs or athletics
