Timothy E. Tomlinson Mathematics Scholarship

HISTORY: The Western Illinois University Foundation will hereby establish a scholarship endowment per the terms of this agreement, to become effective on such date as the minimum funding requirements for an endowed scholarship fund have been received and accepted by the Foundation. This scholarship endowment fund has been established by Timothy E. Tomlinson to provide financial assistance to a fulltime undergraduate student at WIU majoring in mathematics with teaching mathematics as a career goal. Tim graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in 1971 and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics in 1973. Tim was commissioned in June of 1971 through the WIU ROTC program as a Distinguished Military Graduate, and went on to a successful career in the Regular Army, retiring in 1995 as a Lieutenant Colonel, and having commanded a battalion.

CRITERIA:  Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student at WIU majoring in mathematics with teaching mathematics as a career goal.  A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.  Financial need using the FAFSA or other information.  Exemplify those personal traits which demonstrate potential for successful teaching and be of strong moral character.  Activity/involvement within the Department of Mathematics and/or the community.
