Dr. David W. Ballew Scholarship

David is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a BA, Mathematics, 1962; and a MS, Mathematics, 1964. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1969 from The University of Illinois and is a native of Mangum, Oklahoma. He began his career, in 1967,teaching Mathematics and Computer Science at The South Dakota School Of Mines and Technology and served there as Professor and Head of The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science from 1978 to 1986.
Dr. Ballew was the Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science at WIU from 1986-1996. He retired from WIU in 2000. After several years of exploring the country with an RV, he moved with his wife, Mary Lou, to Conroe Texas.
CRITERIA:
 Computer Science major
 Entering their junior or senior year
 Departmental minimum 3.0 grade point average
 Preference will be given to applicants who have been married for at least 6 months or are a single parent and have been working a full or part time job for at least 15 hours per week for the last 6 months or more.
 Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
