McGee Physical Education Scholarship

Kenneth and Velma Mcgee met and fell in love at WIU. They were both the first in their families to earn a college degree. Kenneth earned a degree in Physics, Velma a degree in Women’s Education. Both were active in numerous clubs, and both played on their respective basketball teams. Velma was also a member of the women’s hockey team. They both credited the support and education they received at WIU as being instrumental to their careers, as Kenneth rose through the ranks at Sangamo Electric Company to eventually retire as secretary of the company. Velma chose to give back to WIU because of the pivotal role the university played in shaping their lives.

CRITERIA:
Awarded to a femal physical education student in any year of school, freshman through senior.
GPA of 3.0 or higher
Financial need is a consideration
Preference given to students active in clubs or athletics
