WILLIAM L. EPPERLY SCHOLARSHIP

William L. Epperly (Bill) was the president and owner of Stoneage Marketing in Chicago. Bill also spoke on developing customer friendly, systems oriented, thriving businesses and authored “Stoneage Marketing.” Bill retired from the State Farm Companies in 2002 following a distinguished career of 34 years as a State Farm Agent and Vice President in Illinois and New York.

Bill was involved in numerous civic activities over the years including serving as campaign chairman for Illinois State Representative Joel Brunsvold for 10 years and past president of the Milan Chamber of Commerce and its economic development board. He was a charter member of the Milan Rotary Club, serving as both secretary and treasurer. In addition, he is a former member and past president of the Western Illinois University Alumni Council, and recipient of the WIU Alumni Achievement Award and WIU’s Distinguished Alumni Award.

The Epperly Marketing Scholarship Fund was established in 2015 to support academically meritorious Marketing majors in the WIU College of Business and Technology who have demonstrated an active interest Consumer Behavior and its relationship to marketing technology.

CRITERIA & ELIGIBILITY:
 College of Business and Technology student who has declared a major in Marketing
 Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for initial scholarship award. Renewable with maintenance of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
 Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior
 Preference will be given to students attending the Macomb campus
 Preference for students who have demonstrated an interest in how marketers utilize technology to influence the individual consumer or group decision-making processes and ultimate purchase behavior
 Preference to those who demonstrate leadership and service to the campus and community

 Frist-time applicants must submit a single-page essay addressing the topic “Why is an understanding of consumer behavior necessary when designing modern marketing strategies?”
 Previous recipients must submit a 1-page maintenance summary highlighting leadership activities provided to the campus and community since the previious award.
