RICHARD T. THORNBERRY SCHOLARSHIP - ENGLISH
This fund was created on March 11, 1993 as a memorial fund for Richard T Thornberry. Thornberry taught in the WIU English Department from 1961 until his retirement in 1988. He was a retired lieutenant commander in the US Naval Reserve serving four years during World War II as a commissioned officer on the USS Cleveland.
CRITERIA:
English graduate student
Applicants must be graduate students who have completed at least one semester of graduate work at Western.
Each applicant will submit a graduate-level paper with his or her application, along with a letter from the faculty member for whom the paper was written, and one additional letter of recommendation
The award will be granted on the basis of the paper, graduate grade point average, and letter of recommendation.
