Jim Wehrly Agriculture Business Scholarship

Jim Wehrly is a professor emeritus of WIU who was very active in regional, state, national, and international humanitarian efforts such as Habitat for Humanity and efforts to improve agriculture practices in third world countries. He and his wife established the Jim and Bea Wehrly Scholarship to benefit undergraduate students participating in volunteer efforts that favorably impact basic human rights.

During his time at WIU, he was a member of the International Agricultural Economics Association, the American Agricultural Economics Association, the Western Agricultural Economics Association, the International Farm Management Association, the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, and the Illinois Society of Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. He was also a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, and Alpha Zeta.

CRITERIA:
 Must be a junior in good standing at time award is disbursed.
 Minimum GPA 3.25.
 Undergraduate or graduate student who is interested in Ag Business with priority given to a student interested in Ag Finance. Preference to an undergraduate student. Graduate students may be considered if there are no eligible undergraduate students.
