Dr. Robert M. and Judith A. Crowley Scholarship

Robert, (Bob) Crowley is a native of Chickasha Oklahoma and a graduate of the University of Tulsa with a Bachelors of Arts with a major in industrial psychology in 1954. In 1959, he graduated from the Oklahoma State University with a MS in Accounting. After a six-year career with a national CPA firm, Peat Marwick Mitchell and Co. (now KPMG), he began his teaching career at the University of Houston. From Houston, Bob moved on to Northeast Louisiana State College (now Louisiana State University in Monroe). In 1969, Bob and his family moved to Macomb Illinois where he began a long and distinguished career teaching accounting courses. He received his Ph.D. in Business Administration with an accounting concentration in 1979 from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Crowley rose to the rank of Professor, served as Interim Head of the Department and was instrumental in the development and administration of the inaugural Business program for Western Illinois University in the Quad-Cities. He also taught in and coordinated WIU’s CPA review courses.

Dr. Crowley retired from WIU in 1993 and from adjunct duties in 2007. With retirement, Bob has kept his promise to take time for his family, friends, bowling and golf. However, he remains engaged and actively supports his former colleagues and the new members of the department. For the any hours devoted to facilitate his students’ and colleagues’ success, and for Judith’s full support and understanding of Bob’s commitment to the Western Illinois Community, this scholarship is named in their honor.
