Max Runkle Endowed Scholarship for Biology
Max William Runkle, a native of Macomb, Illinois, was a proud graduate of Western Illinois University earning a Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology in 1968. He spent his career of 40 years with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, passionately caring for the state’s natural and wildlife resources. He authored many articles and was sought for his knowledge and passion regarding conversation and wildlife. Possessing great intellect himself, he valued learning and opportunity. Max spent his life, not only his career, dedicated to preserving our state’s natural resources.
Max Runkle was the quintessential outdoorsman and conservationist. He loved hiking, flying, sailing, camping, canoeing, biking, fly fishing, and walking for hours in the woods.
CRITERIA:
- New freshman
- Biology major
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- ACT 24+ or SAT 1160+
- Full-time enrollment
- First preference to zoology major option
- Award
