Pogue Family Scholarship
The “Pogue Family Scholarship” was established in December 2006 to honor Captain Earl G. Pogue, his wife Evelyn M. Pogue, a graduate of WIU, and their son Lynn Earl Pogue, who died December 14, 1967. The scholarship was established by Van R. Pogue who received a MBA degree from WIU in 1977.
Captain Earl G. Pogue grew up in Henderson County, Illinois in the town of Media, and served for over 15 years as Captain, Illinois State Police District 14 in Macomb, Illinois. His wife, Evelyn also grew up in Henderson County, Illinois in the town of Stronghurst. Evelyn worked in Sherman Hall at Western Illinois University, and the Student Union Building for many years. Lynn Earl Pogue died while attending the Western Lab School where he was a 7th grader.
The scholarship is intended to recognize and aid freshmen students at Western Illinois University who have a special interest in law enforcement and justice administration degree, and who grew up in the West Central Illinois area.
CRITERIA & ELIGIBILITY:
• Preference to incoming freshman, if no freshman are eligible open to current undergraduate students
• Reside in West Central Illinois area
• Major in Law Enforcement & Justice Administration
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• 2 letters of recommendation
