DR. WENDELL L. SWANSON SCHOLARSHIP
The Dr. Wendell L. Swanson Scholarship was established to honor Wendell Swanson upon his retirement by family, colleagues, friends, and former students in September 1992. Dr. Swanson joined the WIU staff in 1951. He received his bachelor’s degree at WIU and his doctorate at the University of Maryland. During his career at WIU, Dr. Swanson served as a faculty member, chair of the industrial education and technology department, assistant dean in the College of Applied Sciences, director of the WIU University Press, director of vocational education, and co-direcgror of the State of Illinois Curriculum Revitalization Project. He retired from WIU in 1991.
CRITERIA:
Undergraduate
Major in Engineering Technology for the duration of the scholarship Junior, senior, or 5th year student, but not hold graduate status for the duration of the scholarship period
Minimum 3.25 GPA in Engineering Technology courses in the department and minimum 3.25 GPA overall
Must have completed at least 12 semester hour of Engineering Technology courses, nine semester hours must have been completed at WIU
Demonstrate intent to graduate from WIU
Demonstrate leadership and service to the Department of Engineering Technology and the University
