COLLEGE OF BUSINESS LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP
The purpose of the Legacy Scholarship is to pay respect to, and maintain the memory of, the initial and ongoing success of the College of Business. In addition, the Scholarship seeks to keep alive the memory of the founding faculty and staff of the original College of Business at Western Illinois University from the inception of the college to the ageing out of the founding faculty and staff (full list below). The College of Business was officially created in 1966 with four departments, including accounting, business administration, business education and economics. The College was first accredited in 1978 by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business, with accreditation for the graduate program following in 1983. The Accountancy program was first accredited in 2000. This scholarship was initially funded with generous donations from two of the founding faculty members, Dr. Richard Hartwick and Dr. James Yunker.
CRITERIA:
Recipient must be a major in one of the following schools: School of Accounting, Finance
Economics and Decision Sciences or School of Management and Marketing.
Completed at least 60 credit hours prior to the award; Junior, Senior and MBA students who completed their undergraduate degree at WIU are eligible.
Minimum Major GPA of 3.0
Participation in student leadership organizations within the College of Business and Technology is preferred.
Preference will be given to applicants who aspire to become university professors during their careers.
