MARY EWING THEATRE SCHOLARSHIP

The Mary Ewing Scholarship for Theater was established by the Union National Bank of Macomb in 1984 in honor of Mrs. Mary Ewing, in honor of her many years of service to the bank. She served the bank from 1956 to 1984. Mrs. Ewing’s husband, H. Dewey Ewing served the Union National Bank for 50 years, serving as president for nearly three decades. Mrs. Ewing graduated from Western Illinois State Teachers College Training School in 1923, and Knox College, cum laude, 1927. She was employed as vice-president of marketing and public relations at Union Nation Bank from 1956 to 1983. She also served as a board member at the same bank from 1950 to 1983. Mrs. Ewing was very active all her life in numerous community and national organizations including AAUW, GSUSA, NABW, BPW, League of Women Voters, American Legion Auxiliary, Tri Delta Sorority.

CRITERIA:
• Undergrad minimum 3.0 GPA/ graduate minimum 3.5 GP A
• Theatre major
• Upper division undergraduate or second year graduate student
• Preference given to a Macomb resident, then McDonough County resident, then students from other counties can be considered.
• Demonstrates outstanding contributions to the Theatre department or community
• If no student meets this criteria, then consider a sophomore or first-year graduate student, or non-theatre major who demonstrates outstanding contributions to the Theatre department or community
