Rosalie Severinsen Scholarship in Speech/Language Pathology

This account was established in the Spring of 1987 from a donation made by Rosalie and Norman Severinsen in December of 1985. Dr. Severinsen was a faculty member in the Department of Counselor Education from 1961 until 1988. Per the donor’s wishes, this endowment is to provide scholarships to new graduate students in Speech/Language Pathology. In 1992, Rosalie gifted a life insurance policy to WIU with hopes that the monies from the policy would be used to grow the endowment in the future.

Rosalie attended WIU part-time while raising a family and graduated in December 1972 with a B.S. degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She was then hired by Knox-Warren Special Education District and taught in Warren County for twenty years. She received an M.A. degree from WIU in August 1975. Through the years, she supervised many WIU practicum students in Speech Pathology and was very impressed by the quality of their work.
