Dr. Marion Blackinton Kinesiology Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Dr. Marion Blackinton. Blackinton, a 1990 inductee into the Western Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame, was instrumental in the founding of the Gateway Athletic Conference and in the continuing development of the women’s athletic program. During her tenure, Western moved from the AIAW ranks to its NCAA Division I status. She served as a coach, administrator, instructor and women’s athletics director for 19 years.
CRITERIA:
Applicant must be a sophomore, junior, or senior WIU student majoring in one of the degree programs offered in the Department of Kinesiology.
A GPA of 3.0 or better.
Demonstrates financial need using the FAFSA or other information.
Preference given to a WIU female student athlete.
Activity/involvement within the Department of Kinesiology and/or the community.
