MARIAN SYMPSON SCHOLARSHIP
The Marion Sympson Memorial Scholarship was established in 1992. Ms. Sympson was an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois, where she served as assistant state leader in the Home Economics Department, retiring in 1969. Ms. Sympson was a 1928 WIU graduate with a major in Home Economics. Ms. Sympson requested that the funds be used to support Home Ec students. The Department chose to allow the fund to support an internship scholarship per the terms below.
CRITERIA:
Major in the Department of Dietetics, Fashion Merchandising and Hospitality
Student must be:
o Completing an internship during the award period, or
o Attending or have attended a professional meeting as a representative of a department organization, or
o Completing research as an undergraduate, or
o A student presenter at state and/or national meetings
Minimum cumulative 2.8GPA
No citizenship requirement
