Samuel N. Oliva Scholarship

Established in 2001, this was the first WIU scholarship established by Samuel Oliva, WIU Accountancy graduate and Certified Public Accountant since 1977. Shortly after his graduation and before he was 30 years old, Mr. Oliva began providing annual scholarships to Accountancy students. In 2001, he established the initial endowment that funds these scholarships. This endowment was the first endowment supporting the Accountancy program to grow to $100,000 and then $500,000. With his recent $500,000 challenge/match pledge, Mr. Oliva set the course for this endowment to grow to over $1.1 million by 2019. Income earned by this endowment will provide scholarships in perpetuity for Accountancy students. Currently, three Samuel N. Oliva scholarships valued at $4,000 each are awarded each year. Samuel N. Oliva scholarships support continuing students in Accountancy here at WIU. Please see the selection criteria below.
