MAURICE G KELLOGG SCHOLARSHIP

The Maurice G. Kellogg Scholarship Fund was established in October of 1987 by Dr. Maurice (Maurie) G. Kellogg. Maurie came to WIU in 1958 and was a professor in the Elementary Education and Reading Department for many years. After his retirement in 1990, Dr. Kellogg has remained active as a consultant and workshop director. This award is intended to support the continued professional development and recognition of primary science teachers and WIU students.

CRITERIA:
 Entering freshman
 Intent to major in Elementary Education
 Graduate of a high school in Hancock or Fulton County in Illinois
o If there is no qualified student from Hancock or Fulton County, then a graduate from any Illinois high school may be considered
ACT of 26 or above or an equivalent score on a like test or be in the upper 15% of their high school class
 Financial need
 Evidence of involvement in high school and community activities (i.e. youth groups, academic clubs, scholastic teams, etc., especially in a leadership role)
 Additional consideration may be given to the students who have indicated an interest in and/or strong performance in science. Courses taken in science, GPA in science and possible interest in teaching elementary science, although not a major criterion, should be considered in the final selection of the scholarship recipient
