Dean & Ellen Zoerink Scholarship

Dean and Ellen Zoerink Scholarship established the scholarship upon the retirements from WIU in May of 2015. Dean was professor of Recreation, Park & Tourism Administration; Ellen was an instructor of Social Work. The scholarship was created to recognize a student who is committed to pursuing a career in Human Services and helping the nation’s disenfranchised citizens lead independent, productive and meaningful lives.

CRITERIA:
The purpose of the scholarship is to support a junior or senior-level full-time student who (in descending order):
1. Major in one of the following programs of study:
 Recreation, Park & Tourism Administration – Therapeutic Recreation
 Recreation, Park & Tourism Administration – Recreation Management with minor in Non-Profit Administration
 Social Work
2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
3. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the Centennial Honors Program
4. Financial need will be a determining factor
