LILA S. LINDER FAMILY & CONSUMER SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP

The Lila S. Linder Scholarship in Dietetics, Fashion, Merchandising, and Hospitality (formerly Home Economics) was established shortly before Mrs. Linder’s death in 1980 by Dr. Linder and his wife Lila, a 1928 home economics graduate of Western and later a faculty member. In an interview a few years later, Dr. Linder explained, Lila had always been very interested in the education of young people. She loved home economics and we both felt that a scholarship would be a fitting memorial in her honor.

CRITERIA:
 Declared major in Dietetics, Fashion, Merchandising, and Hospitality
 Incoming freshman
 Upper 20% of their high school graduating class
 Full-time student at WIU
 Demonstrates evidence of dependability, leadership and service to high school and/or community
 Graduate of a Cass County Illinois high school
o If no students apply from a Cass County, Illinois high school, the scholarship is open to a graduate of any Illinois high school
 Show intent to graduate from WIU
