Samuel N. Oliva Scholars Program

PRIORITY APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 1ST

This program was established by Samuel Oliva, WIU Accountancy graduate and Certified Public Accountant since 1977. It is a four-year progressive scholarship:

Year 1 = $2,000/year
Year 2 = $4,000/year
Year 3 = $8,000/year
Year 4 = $10,000/year

Total Scholarship Value = $24,000

Any student receiving this scholarship, who has completed 60 SH and who remains eligible for renewal of the scholarship will automatically qualify for an accounting internship at ECS Financial Services. Internships include housing, if needed.

CRITERIA:

  • Incoming freshman
  • Accounting major (including pre-major)
  • Full-time enrollment
  • Minimum 3.2 high school GPA
  • Minimum 25 ACT or 1200 SAT
  • Exhibits leadership, community service, and extracurricular activities

This scholarship is renewable up to three years if the student maintains full-time enrollment in the Accounting program with a 3.2 WIU GPA and 3.2 major GPA. The student must also complete ACCT 201 and ACCT 202 by the end of their sophomore year (Year 2) in order to maintain eligibility.
