JACK W. AND DOROTHY BATES JESSEE SCHOLARSHIP

The Jack W. and Dorothy Bates Jessee Scholarship was established by Mrs. Dorothy Bates Jesse, family, and friends of Dr. Jack W. Jessee in 1975. Jack Jessee was a member of WIU’s Department of English and Journalism from 1960 until his death in 1974. Dr. Jessee was a 1936 graduate of Emory and Henry College in Virginia. He earned his doctorate at the University of Kentucky in 1955. Before coming to WIU, Dr. Jessee was at the University of Alabama in Mobile from 1955-1960. His hometown was Dryden, Virginia.

Criteria:
 Open to all class levels.
 Incoming freshman must have a high school GPA of 3.0.
 Current students must have a GPA of 3.0.
 Major in area of Humanities through the College of Arts and Sciences.
